The Brits: The Winners

This years highly anticipated, Brit Awards hosted by Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis had performances from Little Mix, Bruno Mars, Emeli Sandé , The 1975 and Robbie Williams.

Joining them were duets from The Chainsmokers and Coldplay followed by a surprise from Ed Sheeran and his special guest, Stormzy. A beautifully moving tribute to George Michael by Chris Martin from Coldplay stole the show.

BRITISH FEMALE SOLO ARTIST

Emeli Sandé

Emeli Sandé accepted her award alongside her sister whom she dedicated the trophy to.

BRITISH GROUP

The 1975 

The 1975 reminisce during their acceptance speech looking back to where they began, 13 years ago. Matthew Healy, lead singer of the band, told other pop groups ‘not to stay in lane’ in regards to expressing their social and political views.

BRITISH MALE SOLO ARTIST 

David Bowie

Michael C Hall collected his award and said “if David Bowie could be here tonight, he probably wouldn’t be here tonight!”

BRITISH BREAKTHROUGH ACT 

Rag’n’Bone Man

Rag’n’Bone Man aka Rory Graham simply said a big thank you to everyone and said that he was taken back and completely speechless.

BRITISH SINGLE

Little Mix – Shout Out To My Ex 

The girls were shocked that they won the award and said they were “busy chinwagging” before the award was announced so it took them a while to make it to the stage.   They added – ‘Oh and thanks to our ex’s, this one’s for you boys!’

BRITs GLOBAL SUCCESS AWARD

Adele

She didn’t attend the awards as she’s touring at the moment so gave a video message speech encouraging everyone to “get bit ‘swervy’.”

MASTERCARD BRITISH ALBUM OF THE YEAR

David Bowie – Blackstar 

Duncan Jones, Bowie’s Son, collected this award and dedicated the award to “kooks and all the people who make the kooks.”

BRITISH ARTIST VIDEO OF THE YEAR

One Direction –History

Liam Payne was there to collect the award and it was presented by Simon Cowell. Liam said that although the band are currently working on their solo careers, “we are One Direction and we will always be.”

INTERNATIONAL MALE SOLO ARTIST

Drake 

Drake wasn’t actually at the awards but sent his love to the UK and said that he would definitely be there next year!

INTERNATIONAL FEMALE SOLO ARTIST: Beyonce

INTERNATIONAL GROUP: A Tribe Called Quest

BRITS ICON AWARD: Robbie Williams
